Nigeria to Ban P2P Crypto Trading

While most investors utilize brokers as intermediaries, others prefer to trade cryptocurrencies directly with the seller/buyer. Such activity is known as peer-to-peer (P2P), or peer-to-peer in good Portuguese.

Nigeria's National Security Advisor is reportedly preparing to ban P2P cryptocurrency trading in his country, treating the sector as a national security threat. At the moment, Nigeria is in the midst of a war against the cryptocurrency industry.

This is because several exchanges have already been banned in the country, and later, two Binance executives were arrested after visiting Nigeria for talks with its rulers.

In past statements, Bayo Onanuga, an adviser to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, claimed that crypto investors were destroying the local currency. However, the problems of the Nigerian naira are much older than Bitcoin itself.
